INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts picked up their second win of the season against the Commanders in London on Sunday, winning 30-13.
WISH-TV and WRTV Colts Insider Kevin Bowen shared what he took away from the victory.
“The Colts were disciplined, and I know that might seem like a weird word to use, but if you look at it, one penalty for the Colts yesterday, Washington had 10,” Bowen said. “I thought that was a huge deal. When you’re facing a third-string quarterback, you’re facing a team that’s really beat up, you have some of those early turnovers, you’ve got to make sure you don’t compound any of that. That stuff continues throughout the game. I thought the Colts were just really disciplined.”
Bowen has covered the Colts for 16 years and is a radio host for 107.5 The Fan, hosting “The Fan Morning Show.”
Bowen praised Colts head coach Shane Steichen for relying on the run game after a rough start in the first quarter offensively. Jonathan Taylor rushed for nearly 100 yards and two touchdowns in the win. But, Colts quarterback Daniel Jones continued to turn the ball over.
“Right now, Daniel Jones is really, really struggling,” Bowen said. “I think that’s probably the biggest negative you have moving forward. It’s your quarterback looks very similar to, frankly, how he looked in New York yesterday. That’s way too many turnovers. This passing offense right now without Alec Pierce is just not potent enough down the field to overcome those turnovers.”
Jones had two turnovers (one fumble and one interception) against the Commanders and has seven total this season.
The Colts will play the Steelers on the road on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
