Lane closures, roadwork affect Golden Gate Bridge and more starting this week

(BCN) -- Bay Area travelers should expect bridge closures and overnight roadwork in Vallejo, Walnut Creek and on the Golden Gate Bridge starting Monday.

In Vallejo, the Mare Island Causeway Bridge will temporarily close to pedestrians and bicyclists on weekdays starting at 7 a.m. as crews perform bridge-deck maintenance. The bridge is scheduled to reopen by 5:15 p.m. each Friday, with closures continuing through Oct. 23.

In Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County Public Works will begin rehabilitation work on the Robert I. Schroder Pedestrian Bridge over Treat Boulevard. Work will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, excluding holidays, through Dec. 31. Delays are expected, and work is weather permitting.

On the Golden Gate Bridge, overnight lane closures begin at 9 p.m. Monday as crews continue seismic retrofit work. The bridge will remain open to vehicles in both directions, with at least one lane open in each direction, but delays are possible. The lanes are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, with overnight closures continuing through Thursday night.
