San Jose leaders to vote on parking meter rate increase

The cost to park in downtown San Jose could soon be going up.

The San Jose City Council on Tuesday is scheduled to vote on a plan to double the downtown parking meter rate to $4 per hour and extend parking meter hours to 9 p.m. instead of the current end time of 6 p.m.

One member of the city’s Downtown Parking Board sent an open letter to the council recommending it postpone the vote.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 1:30 p.m.
